The 2011 Thanksgiving Harvest was a success! We met our budget and were able to feed 500 families in need thanks to our donors and supporters from all over the world. Photos and video footage will be coming soon! Thank you for allowing us to feed a family in need.

The Thanksgiving Harvest is one of our favorite programs because we are able to do work right here in the United States. While starvation scarcely takes place in our country, many adults and children still face hunger. Nearly 49.1 million Americans endure hunger and live in food-insecure households. According to the USDA, food-insecurity is defined as:

“At times during the year, these households were uncertain of having, or unable to acquire, enough food to meet the needs of all their members because they had insufficient money or other resources for food. Food insecure households include those with low food security and very low food security.” - USDA

Many parents in food insecure homes have had to sacrifice their own meals after a long days work so their children can eat. These struggling households are being forced to choose between paying the bills or feeding their family. Hartman House wants to prevent any working family from having to make that choice.

At the Hartman House Thanksgiving Harvest, we supply underprivileged families with Thanksgiving meals. These meals include a frozen turkey and every Thanksgiving fixing that goes along with it. We launched our first Thanksgiving Harvest in 2006 and since then have been able to provide nearly 8200 people with hearty meals. Our demographics range from ages 18 to 70 including single parents, senior citizens, young adults, and families. It is an amazing community driven event that is growing every year. At our Harvest it is important for families to know that they are not just receiving another hand out, but a hand up! Our goal is to hit as many U.S. cities as possible to help those who need it most. It only takes $30 to bless a food-insecure household with a Thanksgiving dinner. Help us feed more families in need by donating to this cause today.

When Hartman House started in 2004 we sought out the most common needs in people’s lives. In developing countries thousands of children and families go without life’s basic necessities daily. Not only are people in need outside of the U.S.A., but right here in our own backyard. To survive we need food, to progress we need education, and to live in comfort we need a home. Hartman House supplies all three. Take a look at our programs to find out what we do and how you can help!
